Portfolio Management

Adding and Removing Positions

How to add stock positions, set cost basis, and manage holdings within a portfolio.

Adding a Position

Open a portfolio and click "Add Position". Fill in:

  • Symbol: The ticker symbol (e.g., AAPL, NVDA, VOO, BTC-USD)
  • Shares: Number of shares or units you own (supports decimals for fractional shares)
  • Average Cost: Your cost per share. If left blank, the current market price is fetched and used.
  • Purchase date (optional): when you bought them. Leave it blank if you do not know. Without a date we assume you have held the shares for the whole period shown, so performance and risk are reconstructed rather than tracked, and the holding earns no recorded dividend income.

Press Enter or click the confirm button to save. The position appears in your holdings list with its current price.

Sorting Holdings

Click any column header in the holdings table to sort by that field. Available sort options include:

  • Weight: Percentage of portfolio value (default, descending)
  • Symbol: Alphabetical order
  • Value: Current market value
  • Day Change: Today's percentage change
  • P/L: Unrealized profit/loss percentage

Removing a Position

Click the trash icon next to any holding to remove it. This also deletes that holding's recorded transactions (buys, sells, dividends and splits), and your performance history is recalculated without them. You will be asked to confirm first, and it cannot be undone.

Notes and Models

Click the notes icon on any holding to open the notes panel. You can:

  • Write free-form research notes about the stock
  • Attach links to financial models or spreadsheets with a title and URL

Notes are saved per symbol and persist across portfolios.
